Personal Statement :

In-depth individual psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and couples therapy are the services I offer. In the psychodynamic/psychoanalytic approach I use, we explore with deep respect the meaning of your thoughts, feelings, memories and dreams. Experience and research has shown this method to have more comprehensive and lasting benefits and to enable growth to continue even after treatment ends (see Science Daily, Jan, 27 2010 summary). The treatment works by increasing self awareness as well as by experiencing new ways of relating to yourself and others. One takes away the freedom to feel and act differently as well as the resources to address future psychological challenges. The approach is most suited to those who in addition to resolving current psychological problems, want to improve their relationships and live a more fulfilling life. My office is in downtown Saratoga, a suburb of San Jose and adjacent to Los Gatos. It is easily reached from Highway 85 or 17.

In my practice I see adults, couples and children. Many people come to me wanting to understand themselves and resolve their difficultires at a deeper, more lasting level. Often they have tried other forms of treatment. I am particularly proficient in the treatment of depression, anxiety and self defeating behaviors (where one is getting in one's own way and preventing oneself from being as successful as one could could in work and relationships).

Payments/Condition :

I like to set the fee in collaboration with the client. I consider this a part of the mutual enterprise we are embarking upon. The fee will depend on how often we meet and the client's financial situation. For once weekly sessions my fee ranges from $125 to my customary fee of $180 per 50 minute session.

My background has provided me with considerable skill to help. I am a psychoanalyst (certified by the American Psychoanalytic Association), a licensed psychologist and mariage and family therapist with over twenty five years of experience. In addition, I am on the faculty of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, and a teacher consultatnt to many therapists.
